Day 1: Dilwale Ahead Of Bajirao At The Box-Office

Early reports trickling in indicate that Shah Rukh Khan has put his nose in front in his race against Bajirao Mastani.
Exhibitors and producers also say that while King Khan is enjoying a lead over the Ranveer-Deepika-Priyanka starrer, a turnabout cannot be ruled out. "The opinion is quite equally divided at the moment. So we cannot say that who will win the race," says a leading distributor (on request of anonymity).
Adds the source, "If Dilwale had come solo, it would have amassed a huge collection. Ditto for Bajirao Mastani."
Explaining why Dilwale has shot ahead of its competitor, the source said, "Dilwale has a very big face value. The collections of Day 1 are determined by face value. Moreover, people are quite enjoying the film. So, let's wait till Sunday night before we declare the winner."
At the time of going online, trade analyst Amod Mehra confirmed that Dilwale has collected more than Bajirao Mastani till now. "Gentry is loving Bajirao Mastani, masses are loving Dilwale. Let's see how the next two days pan out," he said.
Another trade analyst Taran Adarsh endorses, "Dilwale took a flying start in the morning, but Bajirao Mastani was slow. However, Ranveer-Deepika's film has picked up very well since afternoon. The race is still on and you cannot pick the winner at this point of time."
